2014 Met Gala

For those whom are not familiar with the Met Gala (formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, and also known as the Met Ball) is an annual fundraising gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Regarded as one of the most exclusive social events in New York City, it is also an annual celebration for the institute’s fashion exhibit. Since 1995 Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour, has been the chair of the event.

The 2014 Met Gala certainly did not disappoint when it came to all things fashion. This years theme – “Charles James: Beyond Fashion”. This years dress code – White Tie. This years chairs, alongside Wintour, are Aerin Lauder, Bradley Cooper, Oscar de la Renta, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, and fashion guru Sarah Jessica Parker.

NYFW Runway Report: BCBG Max Azria

BCBGMAXAZRIA at NYFW

There is no better way to kick off New York Fashion Week than to begin the runway shows with BCBG Max Azria. BCBG Max Azria defined his Spring/Summer 2014 Collection with the contrast of hard and soft elements – juxtaposing leather harnesses, sheer materials, lace and a neutral colour palette with art-deco inspired prints, water coloured floral prints, graphic prints and bold statements with black and white materials.

The collection expressed delicacy, elegance and freshness whilst maintaining flattering structure. Sheer paneling was a clear favourite of the collection, revealing hints of skin and bringing forward femininity and slight sexiness.  Max and Lubov Azria’s chic deconstructed collection gave us an insight into a new perspective of these timeless garments and certainly made all women fall in love with every garment the collection entailed.

NYFW Runway Report: Alexander Wang S/S 2014

It would be a complete understatement to say that Alexander Wang never ceases to amaze. And yet again, he has absolutely killed it on the runway at New York Fashion Week, leaving all passionate fashionistas in awe of his latest collection. It is no doubt one of the most important shows of the week in New York and nobody wants to miss out! This collection collaborates and combines Wang’s signature cocoon shapes, loose fits and leather domination with frilly crop tops, single button cardigans, blue PJ-like stripes, print-pairing skirts, tops and high-waisted shorts, origami trousers and adds a new patent fabric to every girls shopping list.
My favourites from the collection included:
Alexander Wang S/S 2014 Favourites
Alexander Wang S/S 2014 Favourites #2
Alexander Wang S/S 2014 Favourites #3
Girls all over the world are dying to break their banks and get their hands on this stunning collection and so I am! Check out the entire Alexander Wang Spring Summer 2014 Collection here.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival

On Wednesday night my younger sister and I headed to the Brisbane City Hall for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival. Showcasing on the runway last night were designers Adorne,  Lalabazaar (featuring Cameo, Keepsake, Finders Keepers, Minty meets Munt and Zed Alliance),  White Label Noba,  Katelyn Aslett,  Sacha Drake,  Pure Moda (featuring Elliatt, Pink Stitch, Cooper St, Electrique Swimwear, August St and Elle Zeitoune),  DA by Daniel Alexander, and  Dmoore. Our seats were on the balcony, so we had an awesome view of the entire show. My personal favourites from the show were designers Lalabazaar and Pure Moda. Here are a few photos of my favourite outfits from the two amazing designers:

MBFF Pure Moda

I wore Finders Keepers ‘On The Road’ Dress from an earlier collection of theirs (which has also been seen on Kylie Jenner!), with beige heels and my tan Mimco pouch. My sister wore a basic black high waisted skirt from ASOS, a sheer black top from Rhythm’s new collection, Cameo’s ‘Modern Age’ Blazer, Windsor Smith ‘Tassel Boots’ and my dark green Mimco clutch. We were very disappointed that we didn’t get to attend the Myer Group Show which showcased designers such as Sass and Bide, Manning Cartell, Wayne Cooper and many more amazing designers but we will definitely be there next year! MTV Video Music Awards 2013

The highly anticipated MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) certainly went of with a bang on Sunday night in Brooklyn, New York. The annual event saw amazing performances from Lady GaGa, Robin Thicke, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake and the reunion of ‘N Sync! And what better way to end the show than Katy Perry performing under the Brooklyn Bridge!? However, it was Miley Cyrus’ shocking performance that stole the attention of millions of people from around the world. Stripping down to a beige two piece to perform ‘Blurred Lines’ with Robin Thicke, Miley shook her bum up against him and shamelessly grabbed her gentile area whilst sticking out her tongue and thrusting numerous times.

Essentially, the VMAs are all about music but fashion is important too. Here are some of my favourite red carpet looks from the event:

Taylor Swift wearing Hervé Léger by Max Azria – Selena Gomez wearing Versace.

Ciara wearing Givenchy Couture.

Untitled #23

Ellie Goulding wearing Amato Couture – Allison Williams wearing Valentino.
